Blast Brawl 2 reminds me of Towerfall: Ascension in that it’s a fast-paced 2D action game that has players die in one hit. It differs in many ways, however, and I’m not just talking about the clean, colorful art style. Take one look at the project’s Kickstarter trailer and you should get a decent sense of what the game is, and how it plays. While Towerfall: Ascension is known primarily for its multiplayer battles, Blast Brawl 2 features a larger single-player emphasis (though multiplayer modes are, of course, included too). There’s a story mode that features bosses and everything – it’s not just an indie Super Smash Bros, which is probably the biggest danger the project faces, as far as perception is concerned.

Blast Brawl 2

What stands out to me, in particular, is just how smooth and polished everything seems, even at this stage in development. The fact that Blast Brawl 2 is the work of one man is impressive. I wonder how many hours Chris Molini has sunk into this? The campaign page is pleasingly informative, with tons of detail about the game and it’s development, as well as plenty of visual aids and even a demo, if you’d like to try the game before committing to it.

Blast Brawl 2As stated by the developer at the end of the Kickstarter trailer, the game has already been approved for release on Steam, Xbox One & PS4, so all it needs now is to successfully raise $30,000, and it needs your help to do that, so if you like the look of Blast Brawl 2, you can support it over on Kickstarter.
