blackglove3With so many games available to players it is pretty hard to stand out. And yet, The Black Glove has immediately gained attention thanks to its strangely unique premise. You play as the newest Curator to a theater. It sounds simple enough except for the fact that this theater is some unbelievable mishmash of 20s sensibilities, 80s arcade history, and a sense of dream logic to tie it all together. If the presentation feels anything like Bioshock to you it might be because Day for Night Games is comprised of many talented former Irrational Games employees.

blackglove2Beyond the unique locale, gameplay is also said to be different. You are indebted with “the black glove” which allows one to alter history. As far as the game is concerned, this power is utilized to change how three artists express themselves. For example, you can turn a musical artist from singing country to performing jazzy lounge tunes. Having direct control over the narrative definitely sounds cool, but we’ll have to see if its implementation pushes beyond what already exists in games.

blackglove1The Black Glove certainly looks bizarre (in the best way possible). As should be expected for such a large project with a sizeable team, they’re asking for a hefty half million dollars – $550,000 to be exact. Pledging $20 grants the game, with expected backer rewards as you spend even more. It has become increasingly tough to make heavy funding goals on Kickstarter, but The Black Glove has a lot going for it. Hopefully its odd style will hook many backers.
