Zelda and Dark Souls, they don’t seems like two games you would combine. One is a wistful and epic cartoon tale of high adventure, while the other is a maddingly difficult exercise is rage containment. But that’s exactly what the gang at Ascension Games are hoping to accomplish with their open world adventure title Cornerstone.
Inspired by Viking culture and lore, Cornerstone : The Song Of Tyrim tells the tale of Tyrim, a young Viking from Borjana. The game starts with Tyrim setting out to find his father who, along with the rest of the towns grown men, have not been heard from since setting out on an expedition several years earlier.
According to Acension Games, Cornerstone will focus on exploration, combat, crafting, and questing. Combine all those together and you have a game that will give players non-linear gameplay that gives players the choice of how to tackle bosses, complete quests, and solve puzzles. A lofty promise, no doubt, but based on the gameplay videos the team have posted on their Kickstarter page, they’re off to a solid start.
The Cornerstone : The Song Of Tyrim Kickstarter campaign runs until October 26th and has a funding goal of $30,000.
