We’re in the thick of Halloween season, so what better time to roll out a gruesome looking zombie horde simulator like Undead Overlord? The brainchild of Cryptic Studios founder Cameron Petty, Undead Overlord puts players in control of a zombie horde hell bent on world domination. This anti-hero action strategy game changes things up from its obvious Overlord and Dungeon Keeper inspirations by keeping things rooted in reality. As much as you can root a zombie game in reality anyway.
Starting with just a zombie or two, you’ll need to attack and feed on your victims to turn them to your side, thus combining health, recruitment, and resource management all into one. As your horde grows you’ll unlock special attack abilities, as well as boss size zombies to help with the more resistant living creatures. Progressing through the games’ various urban and suburban levels, you’ll see the world transform from picturesque, to decrepit.
Cameron’s new company, JumpCore, is full of experienced industry veterans, and they currently have Undead Overlord in a buzz generating Alpha state. The Kickstarter campaign for Undead Overlord runs until October 31st and has a funding target of $60,000.
