Every now and then I’m a bit late on the draw when it comes to posting announcements. Sometimes it’s that things get overlooked, ignored for some reason, or a busy schedule. Don’t ask me which of those situations led to the tardiness in posting an announcement about Duelyst from Counterplay Games, because I’m really not sure.
What I am sure of is that Duelyst is poised to destroy its Kickstarter goal.
Wasn’t that just a great transition?
Duelyst is a turn based strategy game from some of the guys that brought us Diablo 3, Rogue Legacy, and the Ratchet & Clank series. Looking at screenshots of the games conjures memories of BattleChess; complete with a combat space that’s limited in scope, and a variety of units. The similarities end there though, with Duelyst featuring over 100 units and spells from 5 distinct factions, fully customizable squads, short 30 minute play sessions, and ranked multiplayer matches. It’s easy to see Duelyst becoming one of those games people obsess over, debating the best unit combinations and combat strategies while immersed in huge tournaments. The fact that the game started its life as a board game played amongst friends is hardly surprising.
Funding for Duelyst is running until April 9th and has a funding goal of $68,000.
