Heart Forth, Alicia – Previewed

[divider]It’s all a lie. The legends, our history, it’s nothing more than a lie conceived to enwrap us in ignorance and safety. At least, in theory it would. What if everything we understood about our world’s existence were a complete lie? What would you do? Our beloved world covered with oceans, filled with mountains, forests, cities was destroyed a long time ago.. Nobody knows how or where it came from, but a profound star collided into the Earth centuries ago, destroying everything, leaving only a two fragment of the land, now known as Quilth, and where our story takes place: Auster.
So we believe. After centuries of the sky islands floating about, wizards somehow took control of the island for themselves. The spirit of light, Elthëlian, was angered by this and as backlash, the wizards faced a most tragic consequence: the inability to bear anymore children. Being a part of a wizard bloodline was considered honorable. The story of Heart Forth, Alicia begins with the remaining two children a part of a wizard bloodline: Alicia and Höstra. It is time for their coming of age ceremony. But before the event can begin, tragedy strikes. Elthëlianhas murdered a wizard in their village. The children began searching for any kind of help but this only angered the spirit further. It then bewitches Höstra who attacks and pushes Alicia off Auster. Falling into the void, anticipating her death, except she finds a truth that changes everything she’s ever known.
The Earth is still very much existing and well. It had never been destroyed. It occurs to her that the Spirit of Light has been a figure of lies this entire time and may be dangerous. The people may be in danger and Elthëlian must be stopped. Now on the Old World, she must find her way back up to Auster and put an end to this.
Heart Forth, Alicia combines nostalgia over 90’s Metroidvania RPG games with a immersive story where philosophical questioning is vital. On Earth, there are plenty of monsters that Alicia has to fight. She is no ordinary wizard, she is a warrior-wizard, skilled with both weaponry and magic for ultimate combat. Her wizard’s lace, an enchanted whip, is relied on for physical combat. Magic, on the other hand, cannot be underestimated. Heart Forth, Alicia is all the way around, an RPG. As you progress through the game, finishing puzzles and discovering any secrets, magic and weaponry can be upgraded. Each spell have multiple purposes and will be upgradable for versatility. In time, a fairy companion will accompany her to help tackle difficult challenges. Like any RPG, there is a leveling system. Alicia must go through 12 different regions on Earth to return to Auster. On her journey, she’ll encounter many side quests, helping people that will assist her mission and make Earth a better place. Heart Forth, Alicia’s Kickstarter campaign concludes May 15 and has already raised $145K, meeting multiple stretch goals and is expected to tackle more.
