Border: Remembrance is a hand-drawn top-down lowbit/pixelized action RPG Metroidvania developed solely by Istvan Gal and currently raising funds on Kickstarter. In Border: Remembrance, players are thrown into fast paced gameplay complimented by differentiating storylines and map content separated by respective playable characters with diverse combat abilities. The storyline is anything but linear with multiple endings and NPC interactions determined thoroughly upon the player’s decisions for the entirety of Border Remembrance.
In the world of Border: Remembrance, something terrible has just happened. Players exist in a post-war world where nations vary in technological advancement and have discovered magic. But this is a world completely caked in chaos with robots and mystical beings all over the place. Depending on which 1 of 4 playable characters the players pick, they will wind up in different map locations and follow alternative storylines; each playthrough is guaranteed to be unique each time as a result.
Regardless of the character, one thing is for certain, they are responsible for the 35% destruction of the moon, all of which is heading for Earth.
There is a special project in the works, the Aesir project, which created human-like beings with everlasting youth and strong bodies. These three individuals will set on a journey to end all the chaos in the world and begin the growth of a new one. These are the playable characters.
Istvan Gal has been working completely solo on Border Remembrance for a while and 70% of the code is already completed. Now, he’s turning to Kickstarter to raise £3K to allow him to dedicate more time to its development. Additionally, with the use of Kickstarter he opens up Border Remembrance to an audience and discovers the strengths and weak points of his brainchild.
At the conclusion of the Kickstarter, Gal plans to release a playable demo for the backers.
