Games about the police come in many shapes and sizes, but lately most seem to be of the FPS persuasion. There’s certainly nothing wrong with that but some folks out there are looking for more strategic and thoughtful titles. This Is the Police, which is currently crowdfunding via Kickstarter, may be one such game. It focuses on a long time police chief by the name of Jack Boyd who just turned 60 years old and was instructed to retire in 180 days. Although he’s spent his entire career “playing by the books” it never resulted in a lot of money. With copious family bills to pay off, and almost no way to do so, he decides to end his career with a bang – he’ll disavow the law to get some much needed cash.
Gameplay in This Is the Police appears highly strategic, with tons of decisions to be made daily. Not only will you need to balance the new criminal aspect of your job but still also maintain all the regular requirements that come with it. As police chief, Jack still needs to attend meetings with the press and everything else. This busy schedule, and the choices you make, will affect the storyline’s progression. It also sounds like this will afford players the opportunity for many distinct playthroughs.
There’s a lot intriguing about the project by Weappy and folks are already showing their support. If you’d like to snag a copy (currently only for Windows PCs), you can pledge toward a $10 limited tier or $12 regular one. This Is the Police requires $25,000 in funding to succeed.

The fact that there’s a Vita stretch goal intrigues me!
I’m quite interested in this game and put some money into it. I’m a big fan of games with morality-based choices like this one.
