It’s always disheartening to see a project not make funding. However, the development of Essence won’t be stopping even though it fell short of its goal. During the final hours of the campaign they released an update thanking all of the backers for their support and that they’ll be back at the beginning of next year.
As a thank you to their existing backers they have something special planned for those returning for a second time. What it is we’ll have to wait and see when they relaunch in January. Also, everyone who backed this first time around will have their names featured on the Web site.
They realized that the main thing keeping people from backing Essence was the lack of gameplay, which means at least some videos will be ready when they return. And I plan on keeping an eye out for when they do because I’d love to see it succeed on the second attempt. Until then, just follow their Facebook page and check out their Web site periodically.
