It seems like KING Art Games have been rather busy these days, as The Dwarves looks to be shaping up quite nicely. Actually, “quite nicely” is a serious understatement. What I meant to say is “holy Vraccas I want to get my hands on this NOW!”
Successfully funded for $310,091 roughly six weeks ago, a recent update tells us that the developers are determined to try and deliver the first alpha version to backers in a week’s time, with all progress shown in a 2 minute-long video.
New locations, animations, cut-scenes and sounds are all at display, topped off with most character models being completely done by now. Oh, and orcs don’t slide off into the sunset anymore when they’re hit, as the knock-back effect seems to be severely reduced now.
Not too bad for just six weeks after reaching the stretch goal!
Based on Markus Heitz’s The Dwarves (the first novel of the series in specific), we are looking at a real-time, combat-focused and story-rich RPG with a big focus on battles against the odds. More specifically, players will be able to control a handful of dwarven heroes while smashing and slicing hundreds of orcs – think Dawn of War II but way more grand.
Along with a unique crowd combat system and an intriguing story, I’d recommend you be on the lookout for this one.
