I’m very much interested in learning more about the two World Wars and while the story of those who have fought in them are quite tragic sometimes you just want a little bit of comedy in your drama. Enter an interesting take on the time between wars as we see Hitler’s rise to power. In Sebastian Frank: The Beer Hall Putsch you play as the titular character who sets on a quest to stop his friend from rising to power and becoming the fascist dictator everyone loves to hate.
Sebastian Frank: The Beer Hall Putsch takes place in the 1920s just before Hitler seizes power and sets himself up as the singular ruler of the German nation. Our hero has known him since their time in art school, has fought alongside him in the Great War, and has seen just how unstable the future dictator can be. Where the burgeoning Nazi party starts to follow the charismatic leader Sebastian finds himself on the opposite side of the conflict and starts to work on taking him down before the nation plunges into another war.
Sebastian Frank: The Beer Hall Putsch is a traditional point and click adventure game as you go about solving puzzles and doing whatever it takes to stay one step ahead of Hitler’s madness. You’ll be meeting, and both aided and hindered by, a colorful cast of characters as you do so. I love an interesting take on one of the most memorable recent events of our history and this one looks to be one worth keeping an eye on. The campaign is currently running on IndieGogo and should you be inclined, check it out for yourself. In the meantime, consider giving the demo a go. It’s a short prologue of sorts set during Hitler and Sebastian’s art school days.
