Cobalt Atlantic from Whitefish, Montana, have an idea that, with the help of crowdfunding, will be given the funding needed to come along; a bird’s eye view space puzzle game. How does that sound? I introduce to you, Deep Space Investigators: The Dark Nebulus.
The entirety of Dark Nebulus centers around puzzle solving and the joy of a good mystery. You’re the gosh darn meddlin’ kid in this one. The player is an employee of Deep Space Investigators, a company that scours the universe to locate missing ships and, in some cases, persons. It is 2406 and you’re once again assigned with a special job but this time’s different. It’s from a mysterious and anonymous client who’s looking for the core of a specific ship, conveniently located in a notoriously dangerous nebula. Being the only worker willing to accept jobs in this area, work is continuously coming in.
Players investigate abandoned ships, trying to determine just what went wrong. Pilots are turning up dead. Strange happenings aren’t making sense. These journals are getting scarier with every ship explored. With over 50 different ships and multiple star systems to explore, players will have plenty of room for investigation to piece together what they can of this strange mystery.
This is Cobalt Atlantic’s first video game and asking for $15,000 seems a bit ambitious for the project. Luckily, the reception for The Dark Nebulus has been positive in the first couple days of the Kickstarter campaign with almost $600 already raised in support. Only time will tell if we’ll be seeing more of The Dark Nebulus in the future.
