Millions of players around the world love traditional MMORPGs. Millions of others also love arena PvP titles. So what would happen if you combined the two in a new game? Well, that’s what Fairytale Distillery are attempting with Das Tal. This game provides semi-randomly generated worlds which players will enter, settle in, and fight each other within. When you’re not hunkering down for a PvP fight you’re crafting your character to fit your play style and potentially building up fortifications with a team to try and succeed.

Of course, you’ll encounter enemies sooner or later. PvP matches in Das Tal feature real consequences. If you lose you don’t simply get to queue into another match. Instead, the opponent will be able to loot your character’s corpse and take all their items. If they were near your homestead, they could simply ransack it as well. With that said, new players will have some safeguards so they can actually practice a while without continuously losing every item. Items themselves are crafted by players meaning there’s always room to recreate a preferred item even if it is stolen.

Das Tal is also focused on skill-based play. Attacks don’t simply hit after automatically targeting an opponent. No, you actually need to be able to aim and have your shots connect. To further the challenge, there’s also friendly fire – so watch out! Das Tal needs approximately $55,794 in funding (converted from Euros) on Kickstarter to launch for Windows, Mac, and Linux. It will not be free-to-play, but will have only the initial purchase price to deal with. There’s no monthly subscription or pay-to-win items.
