Between Me And The Night is an upcoming game from Rain Dance Studios that asks the question “What would happen if you never really recovered from confusional arousals?” No, it’s not what it sounds like, the condition is the name for that unsettling moment after you wake up from a dream not realizing what’s happening. Are you awake, or still asleep? Did you really just go to work with no pants on, or was that some sort of nightmare?
Between, as we’ll call it from here on out, is the story of a boy stuck in that half dream half waking world that’s full of both wonder and horror. During the day players will navigate a curious floating house, exploring the world and solving puzzles to prepare for evening falling. Once the darkness of night falls things get more ominous and less clear, with curious looking creatures, and a strange new wardrobe.
The IndieGoGo campaign for ‘Between’ runs until December 1st, and has a funding goal of $70,000. The developers are hoping to develop the game full time, and based on what’s been shown in the funding video it’s certainly worth considering becoming a backer.
