olympiarising3“A flood of acid and bile.”  No, it’s not a GWAR game, it’s the horrific event just waiting to happen in Olympia Rising, a new pixeltastic side scroller on Kickstarter.  You control Lola, a deceased heroine currently residing in the afterlife paradise Asphodel Fields.  When Lola starts remembering snippets of her past life she decides to try and journey to Mount Olympus in order to ask Zeus what’s going on.  To get to Zeus, Lola will need to fight through a variety of very stylish looking levels using aerial combat, swords, magic, and more in order to defeat the demons of the underworld.  As Lola fights she’ll need to avoid the rising flood of acid and bile, so moving upwards through the world, ala Kida Icarus, is the name of the game.

olympiarising2So far Olympia Rising looks and plays great, it’s reminiscent of Assassins Creed in that a little effort from the player translates to elegantly brutal movement and combat on screen.  While the pixel graphics may or may not be your thing, it’s worth checking out the demo to see the game in all of its glory.  Who knows, maybe you’ll change your mind when you experience it first hand.

The Kickstarter campaign for Olympia Rising runs until February 15th and has a goal of $10,000.
