galacticprincess2I’ve already told you all about how much I adore Star Wars, and what better way to express that unconditional white-hot love than by telling you all about a new game called Galactic Princess? It just met its Kickstarter goal of £20,000, and it looks like it’s going to be a thrill. The game boasts highly customizable ships and a deeply modifiable and specialized crew dynamic, bringing to mind games like FTL: Faster Than Light, but in a more action-oriented capacity.

Galactic Princess has a fantastic art style, reminiscent of the mobile game Sword and Sworcery, and a perfect medium for the game’s special blend of pop culture and retro-futurism. You play as a space-pirate, a free man under the gaze of an oppressive and corrupt government. You captain your own custom vessel with your own custom crew, navigating your way through space to find whatever destiny has in store for you… And I have a funny feeling destiny wants you to save the damn day. The question is how you plan on doing it.

Every aspect of Galactic Princess can be tailored to your individual liking, the forefront of this freedom being highly customizable ships to fly around, with endless combinations and variations of parts and rooms with different functions to let you fly through space and save the day like a big damn hero any way you want. The game also introduced very interesting elements of gameplay, including having to look at your ship’s monitors to see how things are going instead of just glancing at your health bar. This game looks highly promising and well designed, but I guess we’ll all have to wait until the official release. Until then, may the magic space powers be with you.
