When you’re launching a new Kickstarter campaign there are lots of things you should do. Do make an engaging video. Do give lots of game information. There’s even more things you should make sure you avoid; the most important of which is to not use someone else’s artwork.
Case in point Occupation: The Awakening, which launched on Kickstarter recently and contains minimal game information. The video just shows a model that’s a step up from a stick figure in an empty environment. There’s something curious about the cover image for the video though, see if you can figure out what it is.
One is a screen capture from the Occupation: The Awakening Kickstarter site and the other is some concept art for Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Future Soldier from UbiSoft. Can you guess which is which?
I actually took a look at that Kickstarter, and their video is amazing.
They made a working gun, man. They clearly deserve $7,500.
Probably one of the worst and most obvious money grab kickstarters i’ve ever seen. “We gonna make a game” is practically the extent of the info they post in their details section.. lol.
