cultcounty2[dropcap]S[/dropcap]urvival horror, to its long-time friends, is dying off as jump scares and cheap imagery garner all the attention, and many gamers who grew up with Resident Evil or Silent Hill mourn the loss of properly built tension and fear. Now, a few modern-day exceptions are present, but most games that are classified as “horror” are actually just action games with the lights turned off. Award-winning game development giant Renegade Kid, developers of horror cult-classics Dementium and Dementium 2, have heard the fanbase’s cries for a threequel, and since they can’t continue their Dementium series for legal reasons, they’re bringing us a brand new world in Cult County.

Cult County is an episodic, story driven, first-person horror game set in a secluded West Texas town populated with memorable characters. Combat will hold true to the classic survival horror gameplay, with each combat experience being tense, meaningful, and dangerous, with both melee and ranged weaponry. There will be boss battles and enemies a-plenty, and there’s much more going on in this small town than a crazy cult on the loose.

Cult County is planned for release on damn near every platform you might have laying around your house, including Steam (PC, Mac & Linux), Wii U, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PS Vita, which is, in itself, amazing. If you back the title at a high enough tier, you get yourself a copy on the system of your choice. If you’d like to help out Renegade Kid, you can mosey on over to their Kickstarter and check out the reward tiers along with more information on the game’s story with beautiful artwork and a really neat video.
