Australian game programming collective League of Geeks has started work on Armello, a digital board game that hopes to truly bring the fun and excitement of tabletop gaming to the masses in a polished, highly functional, and well-made package with Armello. From artwork to programming and game balance, the team at League of Geeks boasts an impressive 40+ years’ experience in the field and an extended team abroad working for the game out of confidence alone.
Armello is a turn-based strategic board game being brought into the digital age by a team that has been playtesting a physical tabletop version of the game for 8 months and having a blast. Gameplay centers on humanoid animal characters fighting each other with both brains and brawn to usurp the throne of a dying king, who is plagued by a mysterious ailment. Your job as a player is to gain followers and amass a society capable of toppling those of your competitors while also performing tasks assigned by the very Mad King who you seek to replace. Battle with or against your friends, form alliances, backstab people, or just tear everyone down, the choice is yours and the game is one of strategy both on and off the board.
Armello is currently under development, but the team over at League of Geeks need your help funding this project! If you’d like to learn more or check out some reward tiers, feel free to click on over to Kickstarter where you can learn a ton about the game, ogle some artwork, listen to some music, and see the game in action. The initial goal is set at $200,000 AUD for a release on PC, Mac, Linux, and iPad.
