technolust2Regardless of how you see the Oculus Rift, whether you see it as a gimmicky dust collector or the biggest innovation since shoes, developers are taking notice and creating some things that are made exclusively for the VR experience that the Oculus Rift is bringing to the world. Technolust, a futuristic cyberpunk adventure game influenced by 80’s and 90’s dystopian sci-fi fiction, is one such game, and it’s coming exclusively to the Oculus Rift. In all honesty, it makes me want one. “Adventure” is a vague term, though, especially in video games, so what can we expect from Technolust?

The story of Technolust is one of a theoretical future where all forms of government and society are controlled by corporations. People who refuse to be controlled by the 1% take to their last refuge – technology and the worlds created by it. You play as an anonymous hacker who can run around in the matrix and in the bleak reality, using 3D printers (a common technology in the future) to create items you need to progress. Avoiding the all-seeing eye of the government and acting as a vessel of revolution, your goal in Technolust is to topple to corrupt power-mongers and set the truth free.

While Technolust is being developed expressly for Oculus Rift, it will be available on Windows, Mac, and Linux upon release, so if you have the goggles and a computer, you can play, and by the time that Technolust is released, the Rift will hopefully be a much more accessible piece of technology. Initial funding goal is set at only $30,000 CAD, so if this is interesting to you, Kickstarter will provide you with all the information you need to pledge and what kind of rewards you can get.
