theway3Another World attracted a lot of attention back in the early 90’s for its brilliant storyline and balance of cutscenes and gameplay for dramatic effect and ultimate immersion. It drastically changed the way we look at games and the overall design of one.

Ah, young love. Traveling through space together and exploring the universe. How romantic. Until some sort of tragic event takes her from your sweet grasp and she’s gone forever! But she can’t be, that’s not possible. The main character is heartbroken and desperate to salvage every bit of his love he has left. During a previous expedition with the team, he noticed ancient writings that may be the solution he’s been seeking all this time. Soon enough, the main character discovers that there’s much more mystery to this planet than he figured.

theway2The Way is heavily inspired by Another World and takes the component of sole exploration in an alien world to heart from it. Recently, several classic cinematic action adventure platforming games have been re-released in their anniversary form and this caught the interest of the staff at PlayWay. There was a serious lacking in this genre of games so they took it upon themselves to make one. Whether it is puzzles or challenges, there are plenty of activities and obstacles to keep the player occupied. The Way is seeking funding through Kickstarter with a goal of $15,000 CAD that needs to be reached before June 4th. At the moment, the game is intended to be released on the PC but if specific stretch goals are reached, The Way will reach other platforms such the Ouya, Playstation and XBOX consoles.
