tinybarbarian2While we’ve all been enjoying platformer Tiny Barbarian DX, Michael Stearns and his crack team of developers and artists have been hard at work on the next chapter of the Tiny Barbarian tale. Episode 2: The Ruins of Xanadu was released on the 19th, complete with its own little chapter in the game’s phenomenally drawn and written comic book/instructional booklet. That booklet, by the way, is now available to anyone who wants to give it a look see on the latest page of Kickstarter Updates. Now, before you go and buy the absolute hell out of this game (you should), let’s take a little look at it and see if I can convince you any further.

A sequel to the small but popular Tiny Barbarian, complete with an improved combat system and a fresh, specialized 2D engine. You can do all kinds of great things, such as saving maidens (provided they are no taller or wider than 16 pixels), beating gnomes until they poo gold, outsmarting a liquid metal puma, and biting a vulture. This action platforming adventure will surprise and probably alarm you throughout, and if you’re a fan of retro, this will make your day.

If you’d like to learn a little bit more about Tiny Barbarian DX, you can check out Kickstarter for even more ridiculous feats and gorgeous pixel art. There’s even a bit of gameplay footage, and if you’re interested in seeing what Episode 2: Ruins of Xanadu has to offer, there’s a gameplay video specifically of that content on the updates page!
