Sometimes, all you want out of a video game is a roaring good time. This is particularly true when it comes to action games such as beat ’em ups. Guns, Gore & Cannoli looks like it capitalizes upon tremendously fun, simple gameplay in order to get you brawling through stages. Unlike most games of the genre which place you in fantastical settings or “modern” city streets, you’ll run through a version of the 1920’s. Oh, and there’s also a zombie outbreak.
Why are you sticking around in a zombie infested city, anyway? Well, as ganster Vinnie you’re tasked with finding another mafia fella who recently disappeared. Players have access to all sorts of weaponry that you might expect like ‘Tommy Guns,’ shotguns, and baseball bats perfect for cracking zombie skulls. Outside of the frantic beat ’em up gameplay there’s also a really attractive (and gory) art style. It looks a ton like a cartoon or comic book.
Although you can go it alone, developer Crazy Monkey Studios has made sure that local co-op play is also an option. What if you don’t have a buddy in the room to play Guns, Gore & Cannoli with? Well, there’s no word on the possibility of online play just yet. If you’re interested in backing early there’s a limited reward tier at $10 to reserve a digital copy. In all, they’re hoping to raise $30,000 on Kickstarter and will apply this to PC (Windows and Mac), PS4, Xbox One, and Wii U release. Guns, Gore & Cannoli is tentatively set for an early 2015 release.
