There are a surprisingly huge amount of simulator titles on Steam having to do with driving cars. So, what about if you’re more interested in working on them rather than getting behind the wheel? Car Mechanic Simulator 2014 seemed to be one of the few titles to fit that bill. It also seems to have been quite popular, with over 1,000 reviews and a “very positive” rating on the game’s Steam store page. Thanks to that it’s easy to assume that the developers know their way around cars and game-making, so their current Kickstarter seems like a good bet.
Car Mechanic Simulator 2015 is currently being crowdfunded to add new aspects to the next iteration. Some of the activities you’ll be able to enjoy in game include renovating old cars to sell on the car auction market (or keep them for yourself as a collector). Every day there will be new missions to accomplish which will reward you with cash upon successful completion, so repair as many cars as you can. With these funds you’ll be able to further improve your workshop which, in turn, will draw an increasingly large customer base. There will also be 16 new car models in 2015 over the 2014 version.
PlayWay are asking for $20,000 CAD (about $16,000) for their Car Mechanic Simulator 2015 campaign. If it all works out then the new title will be released on Steam (and offer up more free DLC packages). Surprisingly, it doesn’t appear they’ve mobilized their massive fanbase over to the Kickstarter yet. They’ll definitely need to do that soon to guarantee crowdfunding success.

were the previous games any good ?
Just played through CMS14 and I found it quite enjoyable. Can be repetitive, though I somehow still played it for eight hours straight without really noticing. Now I’m not a mechanic, don’t have much hands-on experience with wrenching on cars, so I couldn’t say how realistic it is. They’re not real car models so they’re obviously not going to be perfect. Better to think of it as a car-themed puzzle game. I would say it definitely gives some basic knowledge of how a car works and drives though. It’s only US$7.49 on Steam, and I got 11 hours out of the main campaign. Good buy I’d say.
