Following a successful Kickstater campaign, The Universim has continued to acquire funding via their website for the game which has just surpassed their latest stretch goal of $450,000.

With the latest stretch goal reached, Crytivo Games, the developers behind The Universim, will now be adding a planet editor into the full release of the game. The planet editor looks to be pretty in-depth, allowing users to change the color of their planet, texture it, add different types of flora, biome diversity and even add alien life. Players can then share their creations with other Universim players through Cryptivo Games Portal system.

In addition to the Planet Editor, a Live News system is also being implemented that will allow users to add their own stories and share it across the network. Hopefully Crytivo will add some filters to that, otherwise we could have some very interesting stories coming from the community, stories that will probably be NSFW I would imagine. Or maybe that’s just me being paranoid after playing games like Forza  Motorsport 2 or Call of Duty: Black Ops. If you remember the creations that were allowed in those games you’d catch my drift here.

The next goal will be reached at $500,000 dollar and will allow the developers to implement what they call the iRobot system. Esentially, it will allow for players to research advanced AI systems and robotics. The interesting part about this stretch goal, however, is that players will have to weigh their choices/options carefully as the AI could become to advanced and become a threat to their societies. The machines can destroy all you’ve built and take over the planet, forcing the player to adapt as well and build a whole new civilization of robots.

We’ll be sure to update you again on any further updates regarding The Universim as Crytivo works towards their next stretch goal.  In the mean time, be sure to check out our previous coverage.
