Imagine a quiet town enshrouded with a deep fog, where the past deeds of its inhabitants haunt the land. Now imagine this town as a sort of portal to hell. Or at least a hellish dimension. Now picture yourself in the middle of the madness and you’ve got the beginnings of Mist Valley, a survival horror adventure where you have to match wits with the inhabitants and otherworldly beings in order to survive.

Mist Valley

The basic backstory of Mist Valley is that sometime in the late seventeenth century a series of witch trials were held in the land now occupied by more-or-less abandoned buildings and a deep penetrating mist. In the same vein as the infamous Salem witch trials several young girls and women were accused of practicing witchcraft and were subsequently found guilty and tried for their treason. Testimonies by other townsfolk cemented their fate and the village became quite the bloodbath. The village literally became a ghost town as the centuries passed. To this day you can still hear their screams on the wind, or so the legends claim.

Mist Valley

The most awesome plot device aside, the other major selling point for me is that the town in Mist Valley also serves as a sort of hub towards a nightmare realm. You’ll encounter several hellish beings as you traverse the landscape and unravel the mystery of the place and how it’s all connected. It’s up to you to use your wits to survive and make it out alive but not unscathed. I just love games that tell a story of the dark arts and the occult and this one most certainly looks to deliver. With only a two week timeframe they don’t have a lot of time to reach their $34k goal but they’re already at nearly a sixth of the way there in just a few hours.
