It’s far from a secret that I’m a huge fan of paladins and whenever I see a project featuring these devout followers of the light I have to check them out. In the case of Pale Spectrum this is a no-brainer, not just in the fact that the game features paladins and their darker counterparts necromaners but that it’s the direct sequel to Brilliant Shadows, a visual novel that I really loved playing when it released. You can check out our previous coverage on the first part of the Book of Gray Magic for yourself if you want to know more.

Pale Spectrum

There’s not much in the way of story for Pale Spectrum but I’m sure that this is mostly due to the fact that it’s the second installment of an already continuing story. We know that the main cast is back and it follows what happens after Prudence Celeste takes over the throne and her fellow trainees as they continue their own personal journeys. And, frankly, that’s all I need to know to jump headfirst into backing this campaign. There is a demo to try out if you’re interested but if you’ve played the first part you should already know what you’re getting into.

Pale Spectrum

It’s also worth noting that I’m far from the only one that wants to dump a load of money in Ithaqua Labs’ proverbial lap as it got funded not long after I backed Pale Spectrum myself with only a handful of people pledging. Perhaps it’s because people want to see what the characters have been up to or perhaps it’s because they’ve already got one game released but it’s great to see another visual novel get funded so quickly out of the gate.
