With the wave of E3 finally behind us and everything in the gaming world returned to its usual ebb and flow, it’s good to see developers coming out of it stronger than ever. ROCKFISH Games, the German-based developers behind successful mobile space shooter Galaxy on Fire and the hotly anticipated Everspace, made a couple announcements sure to excite fans of the new IP.
First on the docket, ROCKFISH recently announced being awarded one of five Unreal Dev Grants, a program started by Epic Games, the makers behind the Unreal Engine, to support European indie devs creating fantastic games on their engine, and just seeing one screenshot of Everspace shows how fantastic this game will be.
The grant adds another $75,000 to ROCKFISH’s coffers, which along with the over €420,000 already made, is bound to make this game even more of a beaut.
In more exciting news, they also announced a release date for the Everspace closed beta. Launching July 29th, the beta will be open to all beta backers and promises to be a fun ride. For those who didn’t back the game, however, don’t fret. ROCKFISH have said that those looking to get in on the beta can very much do so by just going to the Everspace website and buying the beta pack. It’ll set you back €40, but for those looking to get in on the ground floor of what promises to be a hell of a space shooter, this is money well spent.
For everyone else, Everspace is still aiming for a Q4 2016 release, so be sure to keep an eye out for when it does.
Everspace makes No Man’s Sky look like the trash it is but PS4 fanboys refuse to acknowledge.
On the site, it says the release of the beta is July 29, you have June 29 specified here. Is this a typo or am I reading something wrong?
Good catch! That one’s on me, we’ll edit the post as quickly as possible, thanks!
