This week’s Kickstarter Game of the Week is a Lovecraft-inspired horror RPG called Omen Exitio: Plague. But simply calling it an RPG really does the game a disservice.

These H.P. Lovecraft inspired horror games are a dime a dozen on Kickstarter, but almost all of them find some interesting new mechanic to bring to the table, or have some fun new presentation. We featured one such game on Kickstarter Game of the Week before in Stygian. What sets Omen Exitio apart is that it heavily borrows from gamebooks.

Gamebooks are choose your own adventure books, making Omen Exitio almost like a visual novel. The difference though, is that it’s actually presented via a book. You have to keep turning pages of this book in order to progress the story. And this is a story heavy game, which isn’t say there won’t be any gameplay elements. Along the way you’ll have to make decisions that will change the story as well as managing inventory items.

You can check out a more complete run down on the game, and its developer Tiny Bull Studios, in this week’s Kickstarter Game of the Week.
