Frog Fractions 2 is our Physical Indie Release of the Week. Or is it Glittermitten Grove? It’s both! April Fool’s Day did its thing and here we are.
April 1st is always an interesting day on The Internet, and this year was no exception. Even Cliqist got in on the fun. So did Limited Run Games when they announced a physical release of Frog Fractions 2.
Nevertheless, it wasn’t a joke. Frog Fractions 2 is now available as a pre-order. More accurately, Glittermitten Grove featuring Frog Fractions 2 is now available. I know it’s a little confusing.
To summarize the situation, Glittermitten Grove is the game for purchase. Frog Fractions 2 is hidden within that game somewhere. A game within a game. So Glittermitten Grove is sort of a vessel for the real game.
That’s not to say that Glittermitten Grove is a bad game, per se. However, it’s not the main attraction. Regardless, Limited Run has rolled out the red carpet.

This Limited Edition (only 1,000 copies) comes with some neat extras for nostalgic PC fans. The game itself comes in a classic PC box with a removable Glittermitten Grove sleeve. The sleeve comes off to reveal a Frog Fractions 2 printed box. I see what you did there, LRG.
Along with the box, the game also comes on disk in a jewel CD case. More than that, the package includes a floppy diskette with “tips ‘n tricks.” There’s also a map included to keep track of secrets discovered.
Speaking of secrets, That’s a bit of a conundrum here. Frog Fractions 2 was implied to exist within this game all the way back to its Kickstarter campaign. On the other hand, for those who have yet to play it, there’s still some mystery.
Technically the same game. OR IS IT?!
A sequel to a surprise can’t be a surprise simply by its nature. That doesn’t mean there isn’t a new experience to be had. Whether you’re intrigued by metagame of discovery or just a collector, this release is for you.
