The high seas are a treacherous place as players of Mutiny! will quickly discover. The storyline is quite simple. A ship’s captain has decided, against the will of everyone on board, to venture into incredibly dangerous territory. Once outright mutiny breaks out everyone starts to vie for the captain’s position. Oh, and you’re still in dangerous territory meaning enemy ships are preparing their own siege against you. Things get messy fast.
Mutiny! is a 3D game with top down perspective and a heavy focus on multiplayer, although you can play in single player. Players engage in the chaotic brawl against friends and foes with pirate weaponry (cannons, swords, etc) and apparently even boars and sharks! The cartoony art style is very bright and helps make all this violence look outright silly. Aside from battling players must also keep their ships in tip-top shape so they don’t sink.
There’s something perhaps even more exciting in the works thanks to this Kickstarter. Mutiny! the game is already in a playable state but now Hidden Armada hopes to make a mobile app. No, this isn’t a portable version of the game. Instead the app acts as a new controller and second screen for the game itself. It’s a bit like how the Wii U and GamePad connect. With this app, you won’t need to buy an extra PC controller or crowd around the keyboard. You’ll simply be able to hop into a game of Mutiny! with friends. The app is also set to display maps and important data you can utilize while playing. If Mutiny! succeeds at its £25,000 (about $40,800) funding goal then we’ll see the game on Windows, Mac, and Linux with a companion app for Android, iOS, and Windows Phone.
