Festival of Magic is a cute looking hybrid of a game that features magic, fantastical creatures, turn based combat, an epic story, and…. farming. Yup, farming!
You control Amon, a young desert scavenger on Umbra; a planet that has stopped spinning and is now cast in a scorching sun soaked desert on one side, and a dark ice wasteland on the other. Together with his bunny-boar looking sidekick Amon is on a quest to track down and defeat an evil warlock from the dark side of the planet that has killed the village sorceress, all the while trying to find a way to bring her back to life. As Amon travels the world he’ll be able to recruit a variety of new party members to help him with his quest.
So, let’s go back to that whole farming thing. As Amon travels the world he’ll need to stock up and replenish the supplies and magical elements needed to defeat the bad guys. Through the use of various portals throughout the world Amon will be able to teleport back and forth between his current location and his village. Once there he’ll have to manage his plot of land from humble beginnings to an efficient field that produces a variety magical plants that can be harvested and turned into supplies. And no, it’s not an illegal grow operation.
The Festival of Magic Kickstarter campaign has a funding goal of $250,000 and runs until December 21st.
