Everybody’s lost something special in their lives. Whatever it was they dearly wish it to return to them. Now imagine losing your name. It’s who you are and how others see you. It’s probably the most special thing that you can ever own. In Memoranda this is precisely what’s happening to our protagonist. And in order to find what she’s lost she has to help others who’ve lost something special to them. Now this is a point and click adventure with some deep themes.
Here’s the thing. Not all of the characters that you meet in Memoranda are…normal. For instance, you get to meet a duck in a rather snazzy suit that’s lost its animal instinct. Or a soldier that’s lost his mind. With over 30 NPCs there’s bound to be pretty much anything that you can conceivably…conceive of. From the more or less normal to the downright weird.
There are two things about Memoranda that really stand out for me. One is the premise of finding things that have been lost. And not just normal everyday items but also abstract concepts. Exactly how you’ll go about finding them and returning them to their rightful owners is a mystery but it is one that really intrigues me and makes me want to play it just for that. The other main selling point for me would have to be the artwork. It’s hard for me to describe but it really captures my imagination. It’s unique and stands on its own in the adventure genre.
They’re not asking for a lot, roughly $13.5k, so with enough exposure they’re bound to get funded. It’s not a AAA title, but sometimes the brightest gems are those hidden in the rough. And Memoranda looks to be a great addition to the stable. I look forward to seeing this one release just so that I can play it in all it’s glory.
