I love me a good MMO almost as much as I love a good adventure game. I’ve played a lot of the big name titles and even a few of the smaller indie games. However, AdventureQuest was one that had escaped my notice. At least until now. After having worked nearly a year on it the team behind the 2D Flash game has gone to Kickstarter to finish off AdventureQuest 3D, an update for a new generation.
AdventureQuest 3D won’t be breaking too much ground as it follows a lot of the same tropes other MMORPGs use. You’ll be able to go questing solo or as a large adventuring party to take down the usual fantasy monsters. You’ll also have skills and abilities that you learn as you level up, weapons and armor to increase your stats that can be transmogrified (most games of this genre seem to be going this route, which I love), and other features that should be familiar to any seasoned veteran.
What really sets AdventureQuest 3D apart from its kin is pretty much two-fold. The feature that I’m most excited about is the ability to multiclass, something that as far as I know is unique only to the Final Fantasy online games. You can pick up and learn every class available and, from the sounds of things, mix-and-match abilities to suit your playstyle. The possibilities are endless.
The other major feature is the ability to switch between devices at will. You can pick up your tablet or phone and play on the subway then log into your PC when you get home and continue right where you left off. AdventureQuest 3D does look like a great game in the MMO genre and one that I’d love to keep an eye on. Because while we’ll see a lot of the same it’ll also come with its own flavor.
