Before you consider backing Dark Skyes we encourage you to read our feature on whether or not the entire thing is real, a prank, or a scam.
One of the main reasons Cliqist was started was to help promote tolerance and acceptance in gaming. And while our particular focus is on crowdfunded games, and helping to inform readers about them in a positive manner, we’re also concerned with promoting acceptance of any groups that catch flak in the gaming world. Whether we’re talking about someone that’s LBGTQ, female, a dudebro, physically handicapped, or anything else, we’re all gamers that deserve to enjoy this glorious hobby just as much as the next person. And yes, this applies to bronys; those rabid fans of all things My Little Pony. And now there’s a Kickstarter that’s looking to appeal to this particular niche.
Dark Skyes is a visual novel dating sim for the brony crowd, featuring a huge variety of ponies instead of humans. The developers are promoting the fact that the game is planned to have over 50 different pony’s to befriend and romance, hundreds of character customization options, a number of deep RPG elements, and over a hundred hours of gameplay. Far from being a game design fantasy with some high quality concept art, the developers indicate on the Dark Skyes Kickstarter page that the game is currently in Alpha and is already 95% complete. They’re looking to raise $7,500 in order to put the finishing touches on the game, and get some final bits of artwork done.
Say what you will about brony’s, or even visual novels, but the Dark Skyes team appear to have their stuff together, even if portions of their video are disturbingly weird.
I’ll leave you with a quote from the Dark Skyes Kickstarter page. If they’re serious with their offer then they may win the Nicest People I Found on the Internet Today contest.
We would honestly do this for free if it meant bringing a smile to your faces, and if you seriously can’t afford $10 and you want to play this game, email us and we’ll hook you up for free.
