franknjohn1He is a boy used for body mutilation and experimentation by the mad scientist, Dr. Harmin. He awakens in a strange mansion without any memory, let alone understanding, as to why he’s here. This is the story of FranknJohn.

Irish indie studio, bitSmith Games is creatng a rogue-like filled with b-class horror movie characters and clichés for PC, Mac, and Linux. Players play as FranknJohn, an experiment gone wrong who’s just trying to find some answers in this mysterious mansion full of monsters and strange movie references.

Being a freak of nature with removable body parts works to the player’s advantage as they can utilize FranknJohns’ head for fighting in the mansion. Speaking of body parts, players can add on head pieces or replace body parts to enhance their stats during gameplay. No experience shall be the same, with perma-death looming over your head, so experimenting with add-ons will always turn up some interesting results.

Saying your head is a weapon sounds pretty sweet, if you ask me.

Up until now, bitSmith Games has been funding the FranknJohn project with their own funds, even getting additional jobs for it. But to fund the final part of FranknJohn, bitSmith has headed to Kickstarter to raise £30,000 needed by July 9th. So far, the reception for the project is positive and continues to grow strong. A few days into the campaign and over £6,000 has been raised. If it proceeds at this rate, we can expect FranknJohn to be yet another successful Kickstarter campaign.
