Do you ever find it funny how so many books and films are about authors struggling through precipitous circumstances? It seems for these forms of media that authors know themselves best which is why this storyline is so prevalent. In Alius Insectum, a similar concept is utilized. In this game you play as a video game developer named John, along with his friend Steve, as they search for a creepy mansion to base their game on. It seems they’ve found it in an abandoned town. Unfortunately, this isn’t your normal area but some disturbed ghost town where evil has lurked for generations.
Alius Insectum invites players into a mansion with many secret rooms as well as labyrinthine mines underneath the town. It also appears that narrative will play a large role, although to what degree is unknown. You play from a first person perspective while wandering through the many dark landscapes. With that said, you’re not defenseless. The Kickstarter video showed both a gun and melee weapon, thankfully.
One interesting facet of this game’s development is that developer Adam Prouty has been working on it for a few months already and received support/help from NintendoLife. This explains why Alius Insectum is stated as coming to not only Windows, Mac, and Linux machines but also the Wii U. Horror fans and Wii U owners can pledge toward the title’s tame $1,250 goal. If you pledge fast enough you’ll be able to nab a copy for $10. After limited quantities run out it’ll cost $25 to back Alius Insectum and receive a download.
