With zillions of games out there, we’ve seen some resort to quite unusual names to stand out. One such recent example comes in the form of Blazefall Binalblades. When I saw this on Kickstarter I initially had no idea what type of game this was, and also if any portion of the name is actually a “real” word! After exploring the campaign page it all made sense, but there’s no doubt this name will likely cause some initial confusion with people who stumble upon the product. So, for those of you confused folks out there, this is a 2D sidescrolling brawler with hand drawn animation.

BlazefallBinalblades1

Blazefall Binalblades features two “Binalblades,” or people from a secret warrior society who harness the power of the sun and moon. Each Binalblade is paired up with another as to compensate for the other’s weaknesses. As such, players will have control of two characters in the game: Vox and Vinyl. Both have their own skillsets and strengths, and will perform better when it’s the day/night depending on their focus. In keeping with this, some skills won’t even work depending on the time. This provides the potential of replaying levels in different ways.

Once you get past the naming of Blazefall Binalblades it seems like a capable 2D experience. Gameplay seems a little stale from video, but one update with Kickstarter funding will be to provide faster combat. You can check out an early Windows demo here and upvote it on Steam Greenlight. The campaign requires about $59,000 (converted from Pounds) to succeed.
