After nearly 2 years of development and £5,303 raised on Kickstarter, Kim has finally matured to its final version. The Secret Games Company set out to create an open-world RPG that lets players explore Rudyard Kipling’s colonial India.

Kim has been available as a Steam Early Access title since shortly after it was funded in Spring of 2016. With their latest and perhaps final Kickstarter update, Secret Games is celebrating this final development milestone. While they plan to continue supporting Kim for the foreseeable future, the update says that the current version represents the final product.

The premise might largely appeal to literary types who enjoyed the 1901 origin story, but there’s plenty for the rest of us as well. Kim’s game mechanics cater to a host of interesting options and play-styles. The hand-painted graphics and branching story options give players ample reasons to explore the world and help Kim survive.

Kim was Secret Games’ first self-published title. After the success they’ve had I suspect it will not be their last.
