I don’t know much about football, but I do know a few things about tabletop games, and 1st & Goal looks like a great one. The football-based 1st & Goal is on its way to getting a digital counterpart for mobile devices, Mac, and PC. Staying true to the tabletop rules, 1st & Goal Digital will allow you to practice against opponents, outwit your friends locally, or step into the international level, finding challenging matches through the internet. Championship brackets will even allow you to challenge all of your friends and see who really comes out on top. With a focus on community and strategy, 1st & Goal Digital has high goals and plans on bringing us the definitive 1st & Goal experience.
The digital edition will stay true to the rules of the original, with separate offensive and defensive cards to use against your opponent. Each player takes the role of coach, giving plays and strategies to your team to outsmart the other coach. Every team is a little different, and the running, passing, and defensive skills. For the first time, you’ll be able to customize your very own team, choosing everything from logos and colors to strengths and weaknesses. Stretch goals include bringing the real-life expansion decks into the digital game.
Currently seeking funding on Kickstarter to meet a reasonable $25,000 goal, the team over at R&R Games are working to stay true to the look and feel of the board game while expanding it into the digital world without sacrificing the community-driven appeal of board games.
