After roughly half a year of silence, the team working on 16-bit RPG Elysian Shadows finally released an update regarding the current state of the game. This is due, at least in part, to the main developer not wanting to show anything less than perfect. However, he decided that it was fair to all backers to update them with news. It may not be a pretty thing at times, and developers may not want to admit to some of the “ugliness” that can befall its development, but transparency (to some extent) is always a good thing.

I didn’t want to show anything shy of perfect… But the truth is that sometimes game development is ugly and highly inconsistent. Some weeks you accomplish everything you ever dreamed and more, and some weeks you get stuck and barely finish a thing. It’s the nature of engineering and creative work in general, and I swear from here forward to show the true, unadulterated, uncensored, behind-the-scenes progress.

Other apparent reasons for this silence is that there had been a bit of a restructuring in the development team. Some members were let go, some new ones were added, and those that stayed on all moved to a central office to work. With that said, it looks like a good deal of progress has been made on Elysian Shadows based on the screenshots shown in the update. The engine and assets are finally to the point where they can start releasing beta builds to backers owed it.

And while updates will continue, other social media venues will be continually updated as well. Including hosting Twitch streams four days a week by four different members of the Elysian Shadows team respectively.

We deeply apologize for the lack of Kickstarter updates, and we assure you that things have already changed on our end with regards to this, and the new team will stop at nothing to complete this game.
