It hasn’t been a busy news week, but that doesn’t mean that there weren’t some great happenings this week! We have release news, progress made, and best of all, Shovel Knight on Mac. So let’s dig into your weekly does of all the crowdfunding news that’s fit to print. First on the docket…

Two Steps Back is something we’ve talked about before. It’s a gorgeous visual novel on the heels of release, and you were a backer, you should already have your copy. If not, check your email for a download link! If you’ve been keeping an eye out for the Steam release, definitely give it a look on Steam Greenlight or Kickstarter and consider giving it a vote. It looks great, and we here at Cliqist look forward to its Steam release.
Neverending Nightmares, the 2D survival horror game, has quite a bit of news to share. Not only do we have a release date – September 26th – but the last form of the beta, beta 0.9, is available to backers, making almost all of the game playable for those who got in a little early. Before the final build is released, a few assets needs to be cleaned up but, as indicated by the impending release date, the game is almost completely finished. You can check it out on Kickstarter!
Big news for backers of point-and-click adventure game The Ballads of Remus 2, especially those of you who backed to be featured in the game. Turns out, the developer went ahead and drew everyone, so instead of drawing another stable of characters to inhabit the game, most NPCs will be backers! I think this is a great way to both speed up development and include everyone in a more prominent way. Definitely go check out the game’s Kickstarter to learn a little more about it. Fans of the genre will feel right at home.
Godus, a fantastic God simulator in the same vein as Black and White, has recently had a sizeable update as well. The game is available already on PC and Mac, but version 2.2.1 recently released, bringing with it a gift and a new layer of challenge. Swamplands, once the source and home of your godly powers, now spawn organically in the world, making commanding your followers more interesting than ever. You can check Godus out on Steam.
Everyone’s favorite action platformer Shovel Knight just hit an entirely new market – the challenging retro platformer is now out on Mac via Steam, Humble Store, or GOG. A Linux build is soon on the way, so Shovel Knight on Linux will soon be a thing that exists. Physical rewards are being boxed up for backers, and contest winners for Praise us for Prizes will be announced soon!
It was a huge downer when SaltyPepper Games’ Once Upon a Runner didn’t reach its Kickstarter funding goal. But the studio was determined to get this game out to the public. During the summer, they opened up a PayPal pledge option on their website and whoever donates $3 gets early access to Once Upon a Runner. After four months since the campaign, on September 10th Once Upon a Runner was released on Google Play. Soon, the studio will be releasing it on iOS as well!
Back in April, Spirit, a side-scrolling mystical adventure by Holden Boyles, was funded on Kickstarter. In the following months, we’ve seen tremendous amounts of progress – a name change, the alpha release, beta release, even cinematic add ins. Now, after being renamed to QORA, a release date has finally been announced. On September 25th, QORA will be released on Steam. Along with the announcement of the release date came a beautiful trailer that we highly recommend you check out!
