wings3Cinemaware is back on Kickstarter to make another go at getting an up to date version of their classic WW1 shooter, Wings, off the ground.  The original Wings Kickstarter campaign from mid 2012 fell far short of its $350,000 goal after raising about $52,000.  The original campaign was criticized on several levels, from an overly long video, a lack of screenshots, right up to the fact that the game wasn’t being developed by anyone from Cinemaware.  The new Wings Kickstarter campaign, titled Wings : Remastered Edition, is from a small team that features some former Cinemaware employees, features a less rambling video, has screenshots available, and even has a robust demo available for download.  What a difference a year makes.

The new Wings campaign, while less than 24 hours old, is already starting off better than the previous campaign.  With any luck the progress will continue and we’ll finally have a new WW1 shooter on our hands that doesn’t force us to fight controls, or punish us for having fun, and instead have a game that focuses on fun, story, more fun.

The Wings : Remastered Edition Kickstarter campaign runs until December 10th and has a funding goal of $85,000.
