slaughter2The Slaughter may sound like some sort of Manhunt inspired gore-fest, complete with murders, executions, and a bit of the ultra violence.  And while The Slaughter isn’t as over-the-top as Manhunt, it might share more in common than you think.  Set in jolly ol’ England, The Slaughter is an old school point and click adventure game where you play private investigator Sydney Emerson.  You’ll guide Sydney as he attempts to get through his dreary life full of back alley beat downs, and petty investigations until things evolve, along with Sydney himself.  A string of vicious murders sees Sydney stooping himself in the dark underbelly of London in a perilous search of the killer that will put not only Sydney’s life at risk, but his sanity.

slaughter3The Slaughter looks to step outside of the normal point and click mould by incorporating  messages beyond the usual puzzle solving, although there’s still plenty of that.  Players will have to navigate Sydney through not just the puzzles and NPC interactions, but deep into his dreams hallucinations for answers.  Sure, at first glance the graphics may seem a bit too low-fi, but once you see the funding video everything works well, particularly some of the nifty camera angles.  And the music?  Just listen to it, it’s perfect.

The Kickstarter campaign for The Slaughter runs until December 13th and has a very modest goal of £8,000.
