Playdek, creators of several very solid IOS games, hit Kickstarter with some big news this morning. They’re partnering with Yasumi Matsuno, the man behind such classics as Final Fantasy Tactics and Vagrant Story, to create an all new Tactical RPG called Unsung Story.
And with that, money doth flow.
Since launching less than 12 hours ago the Unsung Story Kickstarter has generated over $100,000 in pledges. How is it people are so excited to back Unsung Story?
Is it the gameplay footage? No, there isn’t any.
Is it the screenshots? No, there aren’t any.
While the Unsung Story Kickstarter page has a lot of information on the game, such as details on character classes, gameplay specifics, background story, and more, there’s no real look at the game itself yet given that it’s still in the preproduction stage. Most people seem to be ok with the relative lack of information at this point. There’s an experienced company creating a game designed in-part by man who created some of the most beloved games of all time. An easy sell.
Playdek has 31 more days to raise an additional $500,000 in order to make Unsung Story a reality. Something tells me they’ll make it.

There were no screenshots, no gameplay teasers, nothing to indicate that the game was anything more than a whimsical idea, and yet they still managed to meet their $600,000 goal. […]
