doriangrey2From the never-ending pool of hopeful Kickstarted visual novels comes The Heart of Dorian Grey. In an attempt to blend influences and story elements from renowned American writer Oscar Wilde’s “The Picture of Dorian Grey” with Joseph Conrad’s “The Heart of Darkness” but also make it very romantic and adorable, because a visual novel sans romance is a rare creature indeed.

If you simply cannot get enough of visual novels, this one seems to have plenty to offer with appealing visuals and promising influences, although it’s strange that the developers seem to have no plans at all to add voiceovers or stretch goals of any kind. And while the goal is a little high, it’s apparently being developed for iOS and PC, so if you need something fun to do while you’re out, The Heart of Dorian Grey’s branching pathways and 16 achievements may be exactly what you’re looking for.

The rewards for funding are pretty Kickstarter-standard, but for only a $17 investment you get a finalized and high-quality print of some character artwork, and I think that’s a low mark for such a nice reward. This game has a way to go until it hits its goal, but it has almost two months to get there, if it gains significant traction over the next month or so, it may surprise us all.
