herotrap2Bite-sized roguelike The Hero Trap is currently seeking funding on Kickstarter and a Greenlight on Steam. Combining a polished art style with lightning-quick gameplay and roguelike replayability, The Hero Trap is going to be a short-but-sweet get-as-far-as-you-can adventure akin to Rogue Legacy and The Binding of Isaac, but with a twist: You don’t just play as one hero, you play as three. None of them are really you, though. You’re actually a fresh-faced, striped shirt-wearing kid.

Seeking treasure in a place that mortal eyes have never seen and lived to tell the tale, you call upon the spirits of fallen heroes to aid you in your quest for glory, riches, and sweet, sweet victory. The heroes who aid you in your journey are numerous and unique, ranging from the swift but unpredictable Kunoichi, or the devastating but out-of-control Ursa. Flamethrower-wielding femme fatals, Norsemen, necromancers and rangers, no matter your playing style, you’ll find someone that fits. Luckily for you, you don’t just have to choose one. The player either plays three characters at once, switching between them on the fly, or two more player join in for what will surely be  chaotic and fun multiplayer experience.

Enemies and spikey walls galore, the gameplay will be a chaotic melee at all times, with many different enemy types requiring many different skills and strategies to dispatch. The randomly generated, multi-floor dungeons will always have something fresh, and dispatching the game’s yet-to-be-revealed bosses will challenge you and your friends to the core, and encourage experimentation with different classes. The Hero Trap is currently seeking funding on Kickstarter and is under development by Smashworx.
