The Ghost Whisperer of Lorian V
By Julie Morley
I introduce to you, Ghost Song: A Journey of Hope.
Player, you begin your journey as a crash victim on Lorian V, dressed in a Deadsuit. You, like many before, have come to explore and colonize. Unfortunately, luck has not worked in your favor and now you are seemingly stranded with the lonely souls and ghouls walking around. Explore further to seek out any living individuals like yourself.
Ghost Song pays homage to the Metroid franchise and the story of Dark Souls, mimicking both design and ambience. Brace yourselves for a game that plays off of the concept of isolation and exploration.
Throughout the years, many have attempted to colonize Lorian V, the Moon of a Thousand Terrors, only to be greeted with misfortune. Few have managed to safely escape and have managed to spread the word about the forsaken moon There are are many rumors circulating around about the Moon’s origins and existence. But there is something known true about that cursed moon, it is plagued with death.
The Lorian V moon is said to be a place of great haunting. Souls of the many explorers who have faced the grim end, victims to the planets curse, are completely stuck. Their bodies still roam the land, lurking about trying to find an escape or way to release themselves.
An entire world filled with troubled, lost souls. There is no way out until someone living saves you.
Their physical form is tying them down to Lorian V, so it must be destroyed in order for them to pass on. Their bodies hold them to this world and that link must be cut, otherwise they will continue to writhe in their anguish for many more years. Succumbing to darkness and turning into a wandering ghoul.
But why is the world cursed? Lorian V has a dark past that you uncover along the way. Remnants of failed colonization attempts are scattered all around you.
What sets Ghost Song: A Journey of Hope apart is the design of story progression. Typically, in games through cut-scenes, a story is unfolded as the player moves further and further along, but not in this case. Because exploration is a vital gameplay concept, it is relied on to push the story further. As you are experiencing fights with NPCS and relieving souls of their body connections, the story shows itself to you through your actions.
Be extra observant of everything that happens as you fight and maneuver around. That woman you just saved might be the key.
When exploring the desolate landscape, you will encounter artifacts and miscellaneous characters who will contribute to piecing together the story and this moon’s history. Weaponry is hidden all over the world that may be of assistance though not completely necessary to obtain. Fight bosses, NPCS, and save those who have fallen.
Bring hope to the lost ones. Redeem those who have given in to the emptiness. Rescue their loved ones. Make a difference in Ghost Song: A Journey of Hope.
