barkley2Barkley 2, which nearly quadrupled its $35,000 goal on Kickstarter late in 2012, is the latest in a long, long line of Barkley games beginning way back in 1993. The first, Barkley, Shut Up and Jamplace. It received an official sequel in 1995, but it was more or less your standard basketball game. Then, in 2008, after over a decade of complete silence, the saga continued with Barkley, Shut Up and Jam: Gaiden. This is when shit got serious, and this is right where Barkley 2 comes in.

If you don’t know a thing about the latest incarnation of Barkley, here’s everything you need to know: It’s a JRPG starring Charles Barkley. Perfection incarnate. Lately, we were regaled with an update on the progress of Barkley 2, reassuring us that progress was not only being made at a satisfying rate, but soon an Alpha will be ready for the showroom floor. While the only way to play it would be to travel to the Florida Supercon in Miami, Florida on the 3rd through 6th of July, it’s still great to know that this thing is close to playable considering the scope of the project and the no-compromises development plan.

If you’d like to learn a bit more about Barkley, Shut Up and Jam: Gaiden or Barkley 2, you can slam-jam over to Kickstarter in your fly kicks and catch up on a proverbial touchdown of information. Oh no… I have to go before these people realize I don’t know anything about sports… Kickstarter. Funding. Video games. Yeah, that. Information, screenshots, videos and more. Charles Barkley. Sports. Dammit.
