Lovely Little Thieves Throws Back to 80's Horror, it's a visual novel crowdfunding on KickstarterLovely Little Thieves is the brainchild of Hope Chapman, an assistant editor of Anime News Network, Anime theorist and enthusiast on Youtube (JesuOtaku), and visual novel lover. After a year of development, Lovely Little Thieves is already a playable demo, available for Windows, Linux, and Mac. But more artistic and music assets need implementation and Hope wants to expand her development team. For that, she’s approached Kickstarter in hopes of raising $20K to do so.

Lovely Little Thieves is a horror and romance visual novel using horror and thriller movie cues dating back to the 80’s to drive the plot and develop the characters. With a typical horror movie plot and array of quirky and attractive characters, it brings the players into the world of cheesy, classic horror film with a romance-y twist, giving them freedom to explore multiple paths and unravel mysteries. Essentially Scooby Doo in the college days.

It centers around a group of college students, boys and girls, all of different cliques and personalities that decide to take a bit of a spring break vacation out into the woods. The main character, Dawn, has been disturbed by nightmares that remove her from reality. She is skeptical but this is an opportunity to have a great time, despite how uninterested she’s been in partying previously. Unfortunately, the group winds up stranded in a haunting house with the number “72” painted over it. But little does the group realize their hours are numbered and it’s all counting back from 72.

Together, the five young adults must find a way out of this terrifying mansion, falling in love in the process, and it’s all on Dawn’s shoulders.

Lovely Little Thieves is currently planned for PC, Mac, and Linux releases, though a mobile releaseĀ is under consideration. The Kickstarter campaign ends November 20th.
